Page 5 of 6 Regardless of the constant improvement of the computer performances as well as the graphic technologies for acceleration or improvement of image display, the biggest challenge is the exchange of the mouse and the keyboard, that is, standard peripheral equipment with new solutions. A large number of less known companies have offered their solutions during CeBIT, and we will mention only the most interesting ones.
Touch sensitive screens are not new, but one of the problems is that the user must be very close or to strain in order to touch the screen. Sponsored by German T-Com, few monitors were presented with integrated cameras and sensors following the user movements and reacting to about 5cm in front of the screen, while easing the work and navigation.
Company Tobii presented the monitor which follows the eye movement enabling the user to choose the function or to analyze the part of the picture. These sensors are integrated in 17" TFT monitor and can be used to study the influence of the pictures on the user by showing the places that attracted the user's attention. The only problem is that this technology currently costs 25 thousands USD. Among the well known companies, MSI presented Crystal 6447 monitor with touch sensitive screen enabling full interaction and managing of the Windows-based software using the fingers. This monitor is interesting due to the "all-in-one" solution similar to Apple iMac concept, so it can be popular if MSI can create strong competition with the final price of this product. How do we see the future of interaction with the computer? Probably through the usage of the mentioned technology with the good software solutions which can follow the demands of the offered technology.
